MAKE UK Defence Summit

As the WHS Group we have a strategy of diversifying into other markets outside of Automotive and one focus is on Defence.

Why? The government have pledged 3% of GDP spend before the end of this parliament, up to 5% by 2028 on Defence. £31.7bn was spent on Defence last year.

With our knowledge, skills and capabilities within the Automotive market this offers huge synergy with the requirements of both Defence and Aerospace

As part of our ongoing commitment, WHS had the pleasure of taking part in the Make UK Defence Summit on 12th and 13th November. WHS were given the opportunity to support the dinner on the evening of the 12th by supplying the table centrepieces.

Using blades from a Concorde Olympus engine as the main structure, as well as some replicas, they were a sight to behold. A fantastic turnaround by our engineering team in Minworth to get these made in super quick time and a massive thank you to all those involved.

On the night, these were auctioned & all proceeds went to the RAF Benevolent Fund.

It was a fantastic evening. Congratulations to some of the winners pictured below Morgan Fenning who won the auction of the larger Concorde rotor blade centrepiece Adrian Powell MLitt who won one of the medium versions and Jonathan Ree who donated to the RAF Benevolent Fund for one of the smaller replicas. Over £10,000 was raised for the centrepieces alone which was a great achievement.

In addition to the dinner, the summit provided the opportunity to hear presentations from the government, MOD and several Primes/Tier 1 organisations. On the second day there was a Meet the Buyer event and the Business Development Team of Andrew Kendrick & Diane Blundell met with a number of interested defence companies.
